'ELT in India Today and Tomorrow: Decolonising English Studies'
The aim of this conference is to bring together EFL practitioners from across the globe to exchange views on a wide range of issues in ELT, EFL and ESL practice and research. Through this exchange, it is hoped that participants will gain better insights into the world of ELT EFL ESL and the challenges it faces. The Department of English, Janardan Rai Nagar Rajasthan Vidyapeeth University, Udaipur is the primary host. The Rajasthan Association of English Studies, India TESOL and Asian EFL Journal are proud to co-host this inaugural special event .

The English Language Teachers Association of India (ELT@I) has found substantial support in Rajasthan with the formation of a Jaipur Chapter recently. Swiftly recognized by ELT@I India , the ELT@I RAJASTHAN: JAIPUR CHAPTER aims at professional development of English language teachers of the state at the school , college and university levels. Through its programs, teachers can share experiences and work collaboratively to improve standards of English teaching in the desert state.
Modern theory and research emphasize the relationship between the use of authentic, meaningful communication in English and English language acquisition. As such, there is a need for English language teachers to promote interactive patterns of communication, opportunities for negotiation of meaning, and the development of communicative competence. The conference will focus on the promotion of oral communication in the context of English language teaching in India .
Proposals for papers (of about 20 minutes) and workshops (of approx. 45 minutes) are invited from professionals and students on the following sub- themes and related topics:
- Task-Based Instruction
- Co-operative Learning
- Innovative Communicative Teaching Techniques
- Activities for Developing Fluency
- Communicative Language Teaching
- Vocabulary Building Activities
- Student-Centered Approaches to Teaching Literature
- Teaching English in Context
- Technology in the English Language Classroom
- Formal and Informal Ways of Speaking
- Teaching to Students’ Learning Styles
- Role of Culture in Verbal and Non-Verbal Communication.
