Job vacancies for teachers

The British Council Teaching Centres in Egypt employ qualified English Language Teachers on a number of different conditions. This page is only for people applying for part-time or short contract posts, the hours would be negotiated individually based on the needs of the Teaching Centre and the availability of the teacher. Teachers are usually required in the evenings and on Fridays and Saturdays. Applicants would normally be based in Egypt before applying and be available for local interviews.

To apply for a post you must

  • Hold a British or Egyptian passport
  • Be a native speaker of English or have achieved an IELTS score of 9. If there are doubts about your English language background you will be asked to obtain an IELTS test score.
  • Hold an internationally recognised Certificate in Teaching English as a Foreign Language ( CELTA or equivalent).
  • Have at least 2 years of full-time classroom experience teaching English as a Foreign Language.
  • Have a UK educational background or familiarity with UK culture and institutions.

  • selected applicants will be invited to interview and may be asked to deliver a demonstration class
