Generation '89
In 1989 they were born. Today, in 2009, they have the opportunity to express and share ideas about their future as European citizens.
The project Generation ’89, held under the auspices of Mr. Václav Havel, commemorates the fall of the communist systems in Europe through the perspective of young people born in 1989.
Between 16 November 2009 and 31 January 2010 young people born in 1989, citizens of nine European countries – Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Poland, Romania and the UK – were welcome to apply in the pan-European project “Generation ‘89”.
On 25-28 April 2010 the candidates selected by the national juries will participate in simultaneous meetings in four European cities - Brussels, Bucharest, Prague and Warsaw – where they will formulate their ideas in a common Declaration “Generation ‘89”, a document, which will be presented to EU representatives in Brussels on 7 June 2010.
More details on the project and the application form can be found here.

Alter Ego Exhibition
Alter Ego is a project run by EUNIC to celebrate the European Year of Intercultural Dialogue. It is one of the seven flagship projects funded by the European Commission. In the Czech Republic the main organising partner is the Czech Centre. Alter Ego consists of a European wide competition running from March to summer 2008 in 22 EU countries.
In the competition young people (14–18 years old) were encouraged to explore different and varied identities in their local communities, by creating a double portrait (video, photo, text, music…): a self portrait alongside a portrait of a person from a different background and tradition.
All art works can be seen on the Alter Ego web site
