about the project
This project supports teachers and learners of English as well as policy makers in the area of language education. We are currently working in Russia, Poland, Hungary, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Lithuania and Latvia, while our online materials reach many in neighbouring countries.
We form partnerships with ministries, local education authorities, teacher training colleges, university language faculties, networks of professionals such as teachers’ associations and the media, such as internet portals and newspapers and magazines, to develop and deliver teacher training and language learning materials.
We provide opportunities for teacher development in their use of the latest learning technologies through our “Learning Technologies in the Classroom” course. We support teachers in the early stages of their career with our “Teacher’s Knowledge Test” Course. We are soon to make available a “Primary Essentials” course to support the professional development of teachers of English to young learners. And we support parents in their desire to help their children learn English through our “
Learn English Family” booklets. We also make teachers aware of the vast amount of resources and opportunities for professional development that we provide freely on our TeachingEnglish and LearnEnglish websites.
We reach large numbers of learners of English by placing learning material in newspapers and magazines, on internet portals, through mobile phones and through our own virtual world “Second Life”. We also make learners aware of the treasure trove of learning materials that is on LearnEnglish website.
We consult Ministries, local education authorities, teacher training colleges, university language faculties, teachers’ associations and others influential in media and society to determine the needs of teachers and learners and look for ways of supporting initiatives to meet those needs.
We want to develop online communities of English teaching professionals and learners to facilitate cooperation and collaboration among them.
