Regional coordinators needed to support primary teachers introduce language learning.
Are you in a position to recruit teachers to take part in the 2 week Primary Teachers' Project? If so, we want to hear from you.
The project aims to train Key Stage 2 teachers to introduce/expand language learning in primary schools.
Coordinators, from England, could also receive £750 to recruit and support teachers to undertake a week of language training and a week of job shadowing in a school in the country of their target language. They would typically recruit a group of up to 15 local teachers. Other coordinators have been based in Local Authroities or Universities with links abroad. So far, they’ve supported more than 300 teachers to take part and to visit Spain, France, Germany or Italy.
Participants receive up to 2000 Euros from the Comenius in-service training grant to fund their training activities. Schools in England could potentially receive up to £525 toward supply cover through additional support from the Department for Children, Schools and Families. The next application deadline is 30 September 2008 for visits starting between 1 January and 31 March 2009. (depending on available funds)
Coordinators can work with their own partner institutions abroad or British Council can help link you to providers and schools abroad. Contact Chris Souvlis for more information.

Comenius Ambassadors  - promoting international educational co-operation between schools in the UK and other European countries

In conjunction with the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and the Department for Children, Schools and Families we are running a network of Comenius Ambassadors, whose role is to increase partnerships between the UK and other European schools, through the Comenius and eTwinning programmes.
The Comenius Ambassadors will be organising information events across the UK to raise awareness of the Comenius and eTwinning programmes and to help schools make the most of the partnership opportunities.
