Getting started

To get your Comenius School Partnership started, you'll need first of all to find partner schools, to take part in a preparatory visit and then submit a partnership application.

Finding Partners
To find partner schools, you can apply to attend a Contact Seminar, where you will meet other teachers who, like you, have been selected by their national agencies, and are looking for partner schools to work with on a Comenius project. The seminars are themed, and are listed on our
events page.

Alternatively, you can find your own partners. To do this you can use your own contacts, or try a partner finding website. For more advice on how to look for partners please read our find partners page.

Preparatory Visits and Applications
Once you have found enough partners, you can apply for funding to undertake a Preparatory Visit to one of your partner schools, during which you prepare your Comenius application together.

You should apply for a preparatory visit or contact seminar at least six weeks prior to travelling (some flexibility will be applied if possible). The application forms for preparatory visits and contact seminars are available on the following page:

Please note that it is strictly one participant per seminar, and one seminar per institution. Furthermore, if you attend a contact seminar, you will not be entitled to undertake an additional preparatory visit.

Case Studies
You may find it useful to read about the work other schools have done - case studies can be found at:
www.globalgateway.org.uk/casestudies

If you are looking to undertake a Comenius in-service training activity then you may need help finding a course or a job shadow partner. Global gateway is a useful tool for finding schools and colleges in other eligible countries with which you can discuss a job shadowing placement.
If you need help finding a suitable training activity you can search the European Commission's database of courses.
