Below are a few sites providing information on alternative scholarship schemes that you could consider. Please read through the application criteria for each of these schemes. We advise you to only make an application if you meet the conditions set by the scheme.
RCUK Science Bridges Awards
The RCUK China office is pleased to announce the UK Research Councils (RCUK) call for applications for UK-China Science Bridges. See www.rcuk.ac.uk/international/sciencebridges.htm for full details.
A maximum of 4 awards (ca £0.5M - £1.5M per project, over three years) will be made to support high-profile innovation links between UK and Chinese institutions who can already demonstrate significant and substantive research collaborations. The awards are intended to accelerate the deployment of research knowledge, deepen and strengthen current research links, enable the acquisition of new skills and encourage wealth creation through improving the transfer of research and expertise from the research base to businesses and other users.
Applications are to be made by the UK institutional partner, in the UK, giving details of the Chinese partner institution. The Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) in China has agreed to work with RCUK in the selection process and in seeking to leverage resources for Chinese partner institutions. The Science Bridges are to be high-profile initiatives, so high-level support must be indicated on the Chinese side. Chinese partners are encouraged to contact the RCUK China Office to discuss.
The deadline for receipt of outline bids (max 3 pages long) is 15 May 2008 (UK time 1600). Shortlisted applications will be invited to prepare full proposals in mid June, for an 11 September 2008 deadline.
