kingston University Design Scholarships

1. Scholarship - Curating the Contemporary
Supported by Kingston University and the Sino-British Fellowship Trust 2008-2009

The MA Curating Contemporary Design is an innovative training programme run by Kingston University with the Design Museum in London to train a new generation of curators for the creative industries.

The Faculty of Art, Design & Architecture at Kingston University is pleased to announce a new scholarship supported by the Sino-British Fellowship Trust and the University for a student resident in China to attend the course, from September 2008, for one year.

We are looking for candidates with experience of curating contemporary art, design and media who would benefit from the programme in London. On completion the candidate must return to China to further develop their curatorial practice.

The scholarship covers fees and a maintenance grant of £5,000.

2. Two Scholarships - Sustainable Design
The MA by Research (Sustainable Design) is a flexible learning approach that allows students to pursue an individual programme of sustainable design research. Research projects that involve design practice are encouraged. The programme lasts one year full-time and is run by the Sustainable Design Research Centre, Kingston University (UK).

The Faculty of Art, Design & Architecture is pleased to announce two new annual scholarships supported by the Audi Design Foundation ( http://www.audidesignfoundation.org) and Kingston University. Each scholarship pays full MA by Research tuition fees and a maintenance and travel grant of £11,000. Successful students would attend the course from October 2008 for its duration of one year.

We are looking for candidates from a number of identified countries, including China, who would not otherwise be able to study sustainable design at postgraduate level in the United Kingdom. Candidates need to demonstrate their research project will support and promote sustainable design that creates a positive change in people’s lives in their home country.

The Audi Design Foundation Scholarship Steering Committee is particularly interested in how you envisage using the knowledge you gain from the course in the development of your own country or region.
