Smart Talk@ Shenzhen will bring you Dominic, a successful UK creative entrepreneur (CEO of Plastered T-shirts) and the man behind the brand to talk about how building a business is a very long process and part of that process involves the time you take to invest in yourself, and your passions and dreams. It will also be a good opportunity for you to meet people from the creative industry and the China-UK creative entrepreneur network.

Dominic Johnson-Hill
Dominic Johnson-Hill, the initiator and the CEO of Plastered T-shirts, views the changes of Chinese life causing by growing business, from the perspective of a British creative entrepreneur, who found roots in China since 1993. Dominic explores the life changes and celebrates the beautiful China by designing T- shirt. Nowadays, Plastered T-shirts are popular culture signs in China, and sell out of six locations around China and also Singapore, the USA and the UK. Socializations and localizations are the core concepts of Dominic’s works. Contributed to his great success and achievement in creative industry, Dominic was awarded the well- known UK Commercial prize in 2008.
Martin Barnes
Martin Barnes, graduated from Kingston University, is an artist and visual extravaganza. He served as a designer for Peugeot, Motorola, and other fashion design magazines before, and currently he is one of the main designers of Plastered T-shirts, designing lots of classic and exciting works. Recently, he is working for an art project – “THIS CITY ART”, which combines the local and international elements together, and shortens the distance between people from different culture background.

The British Council's Creative Entrepreneurs programme aims to build a dynamic professional network of young creative entrepreneurs in China and the UK. We will support the development of the network through a programme of professional events designed to offer practical skills development and to create a shared understanding about the contribution creativity, entrepreneurship and innovation can make to the long-term prosperity of cities in China and the UK.
About Smart Talk
‘Smart Talk’ is a series of 10 master classes and workshops designed to inspire creative thinking through active participation and discussion by British Council. Topics will range from business to nutrition and health, sports to industry development and from climate change to urban regeneration. Guests will include professional innovators, entrepreneurs, engineers, professors, economists, and scientists. The dialogues will focus on how, via educational experience, inspiration and innovation, we can develop sustainability for the future and contribute to creating a truly global and international generation for the 21st Century.
