IYDEY Results Revealed
Eight candidates from Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Chongqing participated in the final round of face-to-face interviews in Guangzhou last Thursday, 12 July 2007. The results have now been announced, as follows:

Many thanks to all those who participated in IYDEY, and we wish Mr. Xu Ming success in the UK Finals in exposing the strength of Chinese design! Meanwhile, Mr. Xie Dahuan and Mr. He Jianxiang will have the chance to attend London Design Week, with the return tickets supported by the British Council.
Prizes for the winners in China
This shall include meeting leaders of design sector and visits to designers, design-lead retailers and manufacturers, publishers and cultural institutions active in the procurement of design and architecture as well as the Design Council, the Design Museum, the Victoria & Albert Museum, the University of the Arts London (Enterprise Centres), the Lighthouse (Scotland’s national centre for architecture and design), and the Glasgow School of Art, various successful design firms (including Tom Dixon) and another audience with Sir Terence Conran, the original design entrepreneur; attending London Design week - openings, seminars, and events – concluding at 100% Design.
The first prize winner will be selected to represent China and take part in a tour to the UK in September 2007 with nine other finalists for an approximate 12- day visit, including a tour of the national design industry which will culminate in attending the 100% Design fair (21-24 September 2007) and the London Design Festival (15-30 September 2007).
This programme, which is created with UK partners, will take the finalists to London and Glasgow to meet leaders of the design sector. The programme will comprise visits to designers, design-lead retailers and manufacturers, publishers and cultural institutions active in the procurement of design and architecture. The tour will include elements of the London Design week programme – opening, seminars, events and closing – at 100% Design.
Participation in the 100% Design exhibition and their presence at the British Council events and fair stand will allow the finalists to develop their own network still further and promote their home design scene. While at 100% Design they will:
The second prize winners will be awarded with international return flight tickets between China and London. Winners could choose to visit UK during the London Design week in September.
Prize for the international award winner
The IYDEY international award judging process will take place during the UK tour, prior to 100% Design. All 10 finalists will be interviewed and asked to repeat their presentation on their vision for their country’s design industry to an elite panel of judges from the UK design world. One of the ten finalists will be chosen to be the winner of the international award.
The winner of the International Young Design Entrepreneur of the Year Award will be announced at an awards ceremony at 100% Design. There will be two elements to the prize:
