Making a living out of celebrity
We live in a celebrity fuelled world. We watch them, read about them, wear clothes like them but somehow this just isn’t enough, we still want more! We want to meet them, or at least someone who looks like them. For some people, this is good news. There are hundreds of people in the UK that make their living out of looking like a certain celebrity.
Posh and Becks
Andy Harmer and Camilla Shadbolt from Chester have been impersonating David and Victoria Beckham for the past seven years as a full-time job. Camilla told The Guardian newspaper about the amazing time they have had, the travel, the parties, the people they have met. However, it has had a bad effect on her hair! It has been long, short, curly, big, streaked, you name it. During allegations of David’s infidelity, the couple were asked to do shots looking angry with each other, but Camilla had respect for the people who had provided her with seven years’ work and refused to do it.
Charity work
Lookalikes don’t just work at parties and weddings, they are big hits at charity events. Harry Potter characters, ‘Hagrid’ and ‘Dumbledore’, were the star guests at Great Ormond Street Hospital during a book launch. Hospital staff commented on their expertise, telling impromptu jokes, chatting with patients and visiting wards, ‘they went well over the time allotted for the visit…and made some children very happy’.
