Self-access Centre

Help yourself

About 100 people a day use our Self Access Centre (SAC) to improve their English, prepare for an exam or support their studies. The centre is open to all library members and the Teaching Centre students.

There are over 1 000 titles of listening materials as well as a great collection of reference books on English grammar, language skills and Cambridge exam preparation.

English Language Collection

You can access the following materials in our Self Access Centre

Reference Collection: grammar, structure, vocabulary, dictionaries and reading practice books.
General English and Language Skills: listening materials which are graded level wise from elementary to advanced. These materials contain integrated skill exercises.
Language Skills books focus separately on speaking, listening, writing and pronunciation.
Young Learners’ collection: includes stories, songs and rhymes for young children aged five to twelve.

Exam Preparation Materials

The most popular collection in our centre. More and more of our members need English language qualifications so that they can study abroad.

You can choose from this large range of practice materials:

Cambridge English Exam preparation materials for Preliminary English Test (PET), Key English Test (KET), First Certificate English (FCE), Cambridge Advanced English (CAE), and Cambridge Proficiency English (CPE).
Young Learner Exam Preparation materials - Starters, Movers and Flyers.
IELTS Corner - It is the one-stop practice centre for IELTS (International English Language Testing System) candidates. This section holds over 52 resource titles, about 500 copies, of IELTS course books and exam practice books ranging from the starter level upto band 7 to 8 levels.

Teachers' Resource Centre

We aim to help the English language teachers to get exposed to the developments in the theory and practice of English language teaching and to make a place where teachers can find out more about new techniques and methods and have discussion to exchange ideas and issues on teaching English.

This service is open to all English language teachers who are library members. Many resources such as course books, photocopiable activity books, videos, listening materials and ELT journals are available in this collection.
