Professional and Educational exams

General Information

We administer a wide range of international professional, university and school exams on behalf of major UK examination boards. Exams are organised on request of UK boards or individual candidates.

British Council Examinations Services in Bulgaria:

The above services are provided only for written papers as we are unable to provide facilities for practical or oral testing.

Examination fees and regulations

We charge local fees to cover all costs related to the administration of the exams and the despatch of scripts to the UK by courier. These fees are paid directly by the institution or by the candidates, depending on the requirements of the client examining institution.

In both cases, the fee must be covered before the exam date.

The local fees will vary depending on the exam duration, the number of candidates sitting the same exam and, in some cases, on the share of the board fees, when these have to be paid to the client institution by our Centre.

Refunds can only be claimed for nonattendance due to illness. In such cases we accept requests which are accompanied by an original medical document (bolnichen list for candidates who are employed, or medicinska belezhka accompanied by ambulatoren list for candidates who are not employed) If a candidate is over 18 years old, but not employed, they have to submit proof (a copy of a university or school student card, registration as unemployed, etc.).
The medical documents have to be submitted to us within the announced period after the scheduled exam date. The centre will retain a cancellation fee of 80 leva.

Payments can be arranged either by bank transfer to:

The British Council and the examining boards take all reasonable steps to provide continuity of service. We feel sure you will understand, however, that we cannot be held responsible for any interruptions caused by circumstances beyond our control. If examinations or their results are disrupted, cancelled or delayed, every effort will be made to resume normal service as soon as possible. The British Council’s liability will be limited to the refund of the registration fee or retesting at a later date.
