OPTIMA

OPTIMA, the Bulgarian Association of Quality Language Services, was established on 15 April 2000 as a result of two years of meetings and seminars within the framework of a British Council project originally called 'Quality in Language Education'. The project involved exchange of experience and input at seminars and workshops of EAQUALS, (the European Association of Quality Language Services) as well as with some of its associate members.

Second International OPTIMA Conference
IDEAS FOR QUALITY IN LANGUAGE EDUCATION
25 – 26 October 2008, Sofia, Bulgaria

OPTIMA is organising the Second International OPTIMA Conference, which will take place in Sofia on 25 and 26 October. We will be using the renovated premises of the Central Military Club, which is in the very heart of the capital, as those of you who attended our first conference will remember.

The unifying theme of the conference this time is Ideas for Quality in Language Education, which allows you to choose from a broad range of topics such as Quality Management in Language Education, Quality Assurance and Assessment,  Staff Selection and CPD (Continuous Professional Development), Quality ideas in Teacher training,  Teaching Adults, Teaching Young Learners, Teaching Languages for Specific Purposes, Testing, Material and Syllabus Design, ICT in Education, Plurilingualism in Language Education, and many others.

The Conference will contain plenaries (1 hour) chaired by invited eminent scholars, practical workshops (1 hour) and talks (30 min.). There will be two working languages for the conference – English and German, but teachers of other languages are also warmly welcome both as participants and presenters.

A major FLT Book Exhibition will accompany the conference where the latest titles will be available for inspection

You can find details, application and speaker proposal forms (in Bulgarian, English or German) from the OPTIMA official website: www.optima-bg.org.
