Meeting the challenges of teaching and learning English in contemporary societies
The theme for 2007 Hornby School Latin America took on a sociocultural slant and had to do with recent changes in the way we approach teaching/learning – something that goes well beyond personal characteristics to include issues of identities and contextual factors, all within a sociocultural framework. Under the direction of Rod Bolitho, the theme provided scope for several strands including:
- access to resources, including ICT
- integrating language and content
- changes in the English language
- local policies and global needs
- post-method approaches
