IELTS (International English Language Testing System)

Are you planning to study or train abroad? Are you applying to an institution and need to prove your level of English? Do you need to raise your standard of English? Then we can help you with the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) exam.

WHAT IS IELTS?
On certain dates throughout the year we run International English Language Testing Service (IELTS) which is managed jointly by the British Council, the International Development Programme of Australian Universities and the University of Cambridge Examinations for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL). By taking this test, you will obtain an official assessment of whether you are prepared to study or train in English. It is widely recognised as a language requirement for entry to all courses in further and higher education. The test is also used by a number of English speaking countries to test the applicants' standard of English for immigration or employment purposes.

TEST DATES

We have test dates once a month. Please see our exams calendar for details.

Results are issued ten working days after the test.

FEES

The test fee is increased to 290 KM (two hundred and ninety) and this is effective with 01 April 2007. You can pay the fee by a bank transfer using our payment form

HOW DO YOU APPLY FOR THE TEST?

Pay the fee:

by using our payment form at your convenience (payable at your local post office or at any bank)   

You will be given an Application Form, the IELTS Information for Candidates booklet and our locally produced Information Sheet.

Complete the Application Form and sign it    
When the application form is completed, you can send it by post (preferably registered mail or courier) together with two photographs, a clear copy of your ID or valid passport and a bank statement for the bank transfer of the fee, to Examination Services – British Council,  Ljubljanska 9,  71000 Sarajevo.   
Please make sure your application arrives at the British Council before the deadline for registration, that is five weeks prior to the test date.   

Please contact us to make sure that we have  received and approved your application form. If you have taken the test before please enclose a photocopy of your last Test Report Form.

Application forms received by fax and email are not accepted

You will need:

addresses of institutions requesting your test results (due to security reasons our centre is in charge of the results distribution and can send not more than 5 copies FREE OF CHARGE; for any additional copy you may require we will be asked to pay 10KM administration charges   
two recent photographs   
passport / identity card   
payment slip   

HOW CAN YOU PREPARE FOR THE TEST?

Official IELTS Practice Materials (workbook with sample tests+CD)- 40.00 KM can be purchased via bank payment using our payment form. Materials will be sent to you by registered mail.

POSTPONE/CANCEL THE EXAM YOU REGISTERED FOR?

If you want to postpone or cancel your test you should notify us at least five weeks before the exam date you registered for. The change of date can be requested only once and no penalty fee will be applied. We are unable to refund the fee if cancellation is requested less than five weeks before the test.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO GET THE RESULTS?

Thirteen days after the test date the results are available and posted to the receiving institutions and to you, if you are not from Sarajevo; if you are from Sarajevo you can get your results in person from us during our working hours. Read more

Please note that we are not permitted to give results out over the phone.

WHERE IS THE EXAM HELD?

IELTS examinations will be held on Saturdays at the British Council office, Ljubljanska 9, Sarajevo.

Please note that the British Council reserves right to decide whether to organise ESOL exams sessions or not for certain levels and/or at certain centres due to the restrictions regarding the minimum number of candidates registered. In case there is an insufficient number of a candidate the British Council reserves the right to cancel the exam (in which case you may be reimbursed for the full cost of the exam) or your entry may be transferred to an alternative location.
