Public engagement

There are various organisations and schemes in the UK that seek to inform society of important and topical issues. There are also opportunities for people to increase their awareness, become directly involved in contributing to scientific research and engage in informal debate. Discover more about the range of approaches to public engagement with science in the UK.

Public awareness

The NorthSouthEastWest exhibition at L’Oceanográfic , Valencia, Spain.     Find out more about the organisations working to raise awareness of scientific issues, particularly those that have an impact on society as a whole or raise important ethical questions.

Citizen Science

Citizen science volunteers, many without specific scientific training, perform or manage research-related tasks such as observation, measurement, or computation. The use of citizen-science networks often allows scientists to accomplish research objectives more feasibly than would otherwise be possible. If you would like to contribute to research, find out projects you can get involved in.

Café Scientifique

Café Scientifique engages a wider audience with science and the impact it has on society through informal debate on topical issues. Find out how you can get involved.
