What is Robotics Mission?

ROBOTICS MISSION

Our innovative project connecting local and UK schools

We are pleased to announce that we have successfully finished our Robotics Mission Project. The third and the last phase of the project involved 112 students and 14 trainers from seven schools in Azerbaijan and seven from the UK.
Seven teams worked together with their UK peers, communicating through our
online forums on the 2006 challenge called Nano Quest - Exploring existing sciences at the molecular level.

THE THIRD NATIONAL TOURNAMENT

On December 17, 2006 The Third National Robotics Tournament was held in Baku.
In the first part of the tournament students showed their project presentation about various impacts which nanotechnology has on society, medicine, computers and the environment.
The second part was the actual robotics challenge. Teams met in pairs; they had 2½ minutes for their robot to score as many points as they could by performing various tasks at the mission desk. The two highest scoring teams qualified for the Final and competed to become the champion.

UK First Lego League

The winner of the National Championship was “Lokbatan CEC” team from Lokbatan School 139. The team travelled to the UK to participate at UK Final Championships held at University of Birmingham on 27 January 2007. Pupils of Lokbatan School together with their team fellows from St Joseph’s School were selected as one of the best eight teams from 28 participating British teams at UK final championship.

Additionally, on 15 and 16 December 2006 at the TISA and Caspian Energy Centre Mike Grocott, a teacher from Callington Community College, our partner school, delivered master classes for Azerbaijani school students and teachers on topics such as the Sun as a Star, Stars and Galaxies, Rockets and the Solar System.
