There are several ways of looking for a job in the UK. One possibility is to contact your Austrian job centre (Arbeitsamt). The Arbeitsamt has a database of international jobs, including those in the UK. Most British cities also have jobcentres you can contact for employment and career services. The Jobcentre Plus website includes the contact details of all the jobcentres in the UK, a job bank as well as a wealth of advice about finding a job.

The option of working as a Foreign Language Assistant in the UK is now open to all students with sufficient knowledge of English - and not only to 'Anglistik' students, as it was previously. Foreign Language Assistants are paid to assist teachers for approximately 12-15 hours per week, usually for a school year of nine months. The majority of placements are at secondary schools.
