The project was specifically targeted at children in ordinary schools, as specialist music schools are already well developed in Croatia. In collaboration with the Croatian Ministry of Education, Richard Frostick and British Council Croatia organised the Music for All Education Project, a series of workshops for children aged 8-, 11- and 13-years-old.

The first series of workshops was so successful that they engaged a professional orchestra to work with the children on a production of Peter Maxwell Davies’ The Turn of the Tide, staged at Zagreb’s Music Biennale Festival. The final concert was magnificent, with 300 children singing in the choir and 100 children playing the music they had composed with the Symphony Orchestra of Croatian Radio and Television.

On the top of that, the Ministry of Education and Zagreb City Council donated funds for primary schools to purchase musical instruments. Following this success, in April 2003 we completed a further music education project in Croatia, Between The Notes. This project took place in Karlovac with high school children aged 16-17 years-old.
