ARTISTIC POLICY
Out of Joint is a national and international touring theatre company dedicated to the development and production of new writing, and occasional reappraisals of classic plays. It has premiered work by leading writers including David Hare and Caryl Churchill, and launched the careers of first-time writers such as Mark Ravenhill and Stella Feehily. Out of Joint regularly co-produces work with such companies as the National Theatre and the Royal Court.

CURRENT PRODUCTIONS
By David Watson. Directed by Naomi Jones. A co-production with The Bush Theatre. 18 year-old Jonathan finds himself acting as parent to Daniel, his older brother who has Down’s Syndrome. But there are more interesting ways for a teenager to spend his time.

By William Shakespeare. Max Stafford-Clark’s hit production sets the play in a contemporary African country torn apart by war and superstition. It has so far transformed such venues as old mills, a Czech brewery, a Welsh castle and a Nigerian garden.

By David Edgar. A charming and fascinating tapestry about some people preparing to become British Citizens. For some it’s a way in – and for others it’s an escape.

FUTURE PRODUCTIONS
Adapted by Stephen Jeffries from The Beggar’s Opera by John Gay. On a crowded ship bound for Australia, the convicts stage a bawdy opera about highwaymen, with charming English folk songs. A co-production with Sydney Theatre Company for summer 2008.

WRAP-AROUND
The company normally holds a post-show discussion at every venue to which it tours, with the director and cast members as available. These are free to all who have seen the performance. It also provides education resource packs for most productions, to help teachers and students to engage with the productions, dealing with both the themes of the play and the creation of the production. Out of Join also create workshops generally aimed at students aged 16+, in groups of about 20, focussing on rehearsal techniques and using the text of the play as a basis.
