REVIEW EXTRACTS
‘Pitman-Wallace animates the drama in a form Sophocles himself surely would have recognised.’ The Guardian (Burial at Thebes)

‘Engrossing to watch and to listen to.’ The Times

‘Balance between austerity and passion is beautifully preserved in Lucy Pitman-Wallace's production.’ Financial Times

CURRENT PRODUCTIONS
The Burial at Thebes Sophocles' Antigone translated by Seamus Heaney. Antigone's brother lies where he fell in rebellion against the authorities. Her uncle, King Creon, outlaws his burial. Anigone's appalling dilemma is whether to obey Creon and offend against the gods, or to follow her heart and plunge her accursed family into a fresh cycle of violence. The startling modernity of the story is all the more evident in Heaney's poetic and accessible translation. His spare, muscular verse also has a remarkably epic and lyrical quality, giving the production a combination of innate grace and raw emotional power. (75 mins, no interval, 10 on stage, 18 on the road.)
