ARTISTIC POLICY
The Liverpool Everyman and Playhouse are in the course of a remarkable creative renaissance, boosted by Liverpool’s role as European Capital of Culture for 2008. A rich and vibrant artistic policy combines artistic excellence with deep roots in the local community. At the Playhouse, the programme centres on creative interpretations of great plays; at the Everyman, new writing is the central programme strand, and an exciting generation of new Liverpool playwrights is currently emerging. As Capital of Culture 2008 approaches, the Liverpool theatres are keen to establish contacts, collaborations and creative exchange at the international level.

CURRENT PRODUCTION
Award-winning, searing and deeply moving verbatim drama prompted by the murder of two Liverpool sex workers, which gives a profound insight into the human lives behind the newspaper headlines.
FUTURE PRODUCTIONS
By Mark Davies. New musical drama from the author of Taboo about the legendary club of the late 70s and early 80s where punk sparked a generation of Liverpool bands. Under commission for production in 2008.
(title tbc) By Frank Cottrell-Boyce. Fresh, off-beat and non-issue-based play for young people aged 12–16, from the author/adaptor of Sid and Nancy and Millions. Under commission for production in 2008.
New production by Rupert Goold featuring a leading Liverpool actor with an exceptional stage and film pedigree.
WRAP-AROUND
All productions will be supported by wrap-around activity. Unprotected offers many opportunities such as issue-based debate; workshops on verbatim as a theatrical technique; issues around the arts’ engagement with their community, and potentially bespoke ways of working locally with sex workers, outreach workers, politicians and/or arts practitioners.
