ARTISTIC POLICY
Akram Khan seeks to establish a new tradition of storytelling by drawing on influences from the North Indian classical dance form kathak, Indian classical music and western contemporary dance and music. There is also a strong and consistent focus on intercultural and interdisciplinary collaborations, as well as developing work that challenges conventional ideas of traditional dance forms.

CURRENT PRODUCTIONS
Collaboration between Akram Khan and Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui (Les Ballets C de la B, Belgium), sculptor Antony Gormley and composer Nitin Sawhney. (70 mins, 6 on stage including 4 musicians.)

Collaboration with French ballerina Sylvie Guillem, featuring additional choreography by Lin Hwai-Min, artistic director of Cloud Gate Dance Theatre, and music composed by Philip Sheppard. (75 mins without interval, 7 on stage including 2 dancers and 5 musicians.)

FUTURE PRODUCTIONS
(working title) A collaboration that will explore notions of ascension, the visible/invisible, and angels. Akram Khan and Juliette Binoche will co-direct and perform on stage, inhabiting a surreal/visceral world created by visual artist Anish Kapoor. (75 mins without interval).

In this collaboration with the National Ballet of China, Akram Khan brings together dancers from different cultures and dance backgrounds: Chinese, Korean, Indian, South African and Spanish. They meet and try to communicate their experiences, memories, dreams and aspirations that make them move. (75 mins without interval.)
