Established in 1989, the Hallé's award-winning Education Programme now generates over forty projects a year benefiting 30,000 mainly young people. These include an annual series of concerts for schools entitled Hallé for Youth, school-based curriculum projects often incorporating other art forms, and large- and small-scale community projects.

Since its inception, the quality of Hallé Education's work has been recognised by several prestigious awards and in the future hopes to widen its appeal so that it is able to offer projects right across the education spectrum from 'cradle to grave'. The Hallé also owns a set of Javanese Gamelan instruments, which are used for a wide variety of educational projects, workshops and residencies.
