English Touring Opera's Education programme has been a vital part of the companies work for over 15 years. Its goal is to make ETO's rich cultural resources accessible to as many people as possible through a variety of projects for adults and young people, including those with special needs and the elderly. English Touring Opera’s hope is to extend the range of educational opportunities available to even more venues across the country.
ETO’s main aims are to:
Nurture an appreciation of opera, music, and the performing arts in general
Overcome traditional stereotypes surrounding the art form, particularly among young people
Forge a long-term connection between ETO and local communities
Develop confidence, social and motor skills
Provide training and professional development for pupils, teachers, staff, singers and musicians
Support the National Curriculum
Respond to current trends and educational issues
