Aims for this project include increasing the range, scope and accessibility of literature projects across the region. creating wider audiences for country-specific literature programmes and increasing awareness and access to contacts and opportunities in the UK.

British Fantasy and Science Fiction: aimed at increasing awareness of contemporary UK writing for a wider audience., providing better access and encourgement to read English. Through reading groups, workshops, book exhibitions, an online forum, live author chats online, film shows, talks and workshops with science fiction and science fact visiting authors (Stephen Baxter, Terry Pratchett, Gwyneth Jones, Michael Marshall Smith, Susanna Clarke).
(First in a series to run in collaboration with Polish publishers and bookshops - followed by Faces and Places 2005/6).

Reading Across the Lines
2003-2005
A selection of creative writers (experienced in teaching creative writing in a school environment), teachers and reader development specialists will be visiting Russia to deliver a series of events, workshops and discussion forums

Promoting interest in reading stories in upper secondary and lower secondary school age children and promoting creative writing in the classroom
Book Mania
Three-year project to build an awareness of contemporary UK writing amoung young audiences in Azerbaijan, Georgia and Armenia through reading groups, storytelling sessions, seminars and reader development workshops.
The first year will involve an exhibition of contemporary UK literature in various cities and an author visit to Baku for a range of audiences (Information/Library staff, Englsih students etc).

BritLit
Writing teaching materials based on contemporary UK literature.
Developed in Portugal and now being extended to Hungary.
Hungary 2005/6 - focuses on four UK cities through the eyes of their native poets. First the city of Liverpool through the words of Levi Tafari.
