Darwin Now

Darwin Now Exhibition

The British Council, in collaboration with the Young Biologists Association in Armenia, presented the unique Darwin Now exhibition in Yerevan. The Darwin Now exhibition explored the origins of Darwin’s book and explained how they remain at the core of contemporary research in biology and medicine.

What was Darwin Now?
Darwin Now
was the British Council’s contribution to the international celebration of two landmark anniversaries for science in 2009 – the bicentenary of the birth of Charles Darwin and the 150th anniversary of the publication of his ground-breaking work 'On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection'.

Why and how to visit the exhibition
The Darwin Now exhibition was being shown in over 25 countries worldwide. It was both colourful and informative, to be enjoyed by children and adults. Each panel told its own story as you learn about Darwin, his findings and how his theory is relevant today.

The touring exhibition launched in Yerevan at the gallery of Moscow Cinema on 10 March 2010, after which it continued its journey to different venues in Armenia.

10-21 March 2010    Moscow Cinema
22-31 March 2010    Yerevan State University
1-9 April 2010    Yerevan State Medical University

Associated educational resources, including instructions for hands-on experiments, arts-based activities and suggestions for role plays and philosophical debates are available to download here.

If you couldn't manage to visit the exhibition in person, have a look at the online version or download the exhibition booklet (PDF, 2.78MB).
