Young Creative Entrepreneurs Competition champions the achievements of a group of 6 young creative entrepreneurs recognizing their role in the creative industries and sharing their creativity through their project idea of S.R.A. "S.R.A is a virtual entrepreneurship idea and stands for Sales Representative Agency of Albania.
Young Creative Entrepreneurs is a recent British Council Albanian programme under the economic reform programme on entrepreneurship for a prosperous Europe. Albania is alive with creative, talented people with great ideas who provide bridges with creative consumers.
Young Creative Entrepreneurs Competition was held on the 26th January 2008 after five days of intensive training programme “A Successful Road for Young Creative Entrepreneurs” held in the premises of the British Council on 21st-25th January 2008. The workshop was organized by the British Council Albania in cooperation with the Ministry of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Sport and SIFE with the aim to create professional development opportunities for 30 young people by helping them on the following: market economics, entrepreneurship, marketing strategy and planning, business laws and intellectual property rights, consumer behaviour, business ethics and e-business, leadership, management and self-promotion. During these 5 days of training participants worked in groups of five/six people and developed business plan on a project idea within the creative industry sector.
More than 100 young people, aged between 25-35 years, representing different background and different cities in the country and overseas were reached during a three weeks application process expressing their interest to take part in the training programme. An open selection process was established and 30 candidates were selected because of their ambitions, their eagerness to contribute to the community development and their potential as leaders.
A group of experts and professors covered five domains of activity relevant to the professional development of the participants. Mr. Audu Maikori, one of the winners of the International Creative Entrepreneurs Music Award 2007 was special guest of the activity.
All the selected candidates worked closely with each other sharing their understanding and knowledge and developing five main project-business ideas: Eagle Eye; Albanian Business Angles; Creative Network of Tourism in Albania; KIDAIO Art Hall and S.R.A.
On the 26th January 2008 a competitive presentation was organized. A panel of experts selected the best three business plans of the best project ideas. The winner group with the best business plan was S.R.A. The winner received a financial award from the Ministry of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Sport to be spent for the business start-up. All the best three winners received awards form the two main international business companies like Vodafone Albania and PEPSI. Representatives from the Ministry of Economy were present showing their future engagement to develop further this project in the future. Ministry of Economy has indeed signed with the British Council Albania a Memorandum of Understanding on the Development of the Creative Industry Sector.
