How do I pay?   

Please register with the customer service, you will receive a deposit slip to pay at the Sudanese Islamic bank. When registering for the test and/or workshop, please bring along with you the appropriate amount together with your ID (national identification) and 2 passport size photographs.

Photographs must be:    

Recent (Taken within the last month).   
Taken against a light, plain background so that features are clearly distinguishable against the background.   
Showing full face, looking straight at the camera.   

When and where can I take my test?

Speaking tests will take place at the British Council‘s office. Exams staff will contact you to notify you of your exam time. Please note that if you come late for your speaking test, you will be considered absent.

How do I prepare for my test?   

Please click on the 'prepare for your test' link to the left to find information about ‘Road to IELTS’ - an exclusive online offer to British Council candidates.   
You can purchase an IELTS study pack containing: a CD-ROM, handbook, test information and practice papers. Complete the registration form and send it back to us. You can also drop of your form at our office.   

What will happen before the test?   

Candidates will receive notification/confirmation either by e-mail or telephone at least a week before the test date.   
In the event that you do not receive the notification, please contact the British Council office where you registered.   
Test dates cannot be deferred or transferred and fees are non-refundable.   

What should I take to the test?   

Proof of your identity (national ID or passport) which is the same as the identity information you provided on your application form. It must contain a number, a signature, a date of birth and a photograph.   
If you are taking the test in another country you need to also bring your passport.   
The pens, pencils and erasers which you need for the test. Bring an accurate watch along with you too so that you can keep track of the time.   
You will be asked to leave any bags, papers, mobile phone etc outside the test room. Please remeber to switch off you mobile phone.   
If you need to take any medication, please notify the Exams coordinator at least two days in advance.   

Please note: If you do not have the correct identity information you will not be able to take the test. Make sure you arrive on time so that you have enough time to get comfortable.

When will I receive my results?   

Results will be returned to you as a Test Report Form 13 days after the test. There is no pass or fail mark. Scores are given on a band scale of one to nine (with one being a non-user and nine being an expert user of the English language). Download or read through a copy of the IELTS handbook for more detailed information.

In addition to the certificate given to the candidate, candidates can request on their application forms (Section 24), that up to 5 copies of the results be sent to receiving institutions. Receiving institutions are local academic Institutions (e.g. universities) and overseas institutions not registered to view candidate results online. Registered institutions only receive results online; here is a list of registered institutions. Unfortunately we cannot send to local institutions or departments (e.g. immigration agents).
