If you are planning to study, live or work abroad, you will need to take an IELTS (International English Language Testing System) exam. See our general information on IELTS for more details.
In Johannesburg we run IELTS exams regularly and workshops to help you prepare for the exam. Read on to find out how to register, what it costs and when the exams and workshops take place.
How can I register?
Before you apply, we recommend that you read our information pack. To register - you can apply online, or print out and complete the IELTS application form in our information pack and email or fax to 0860 10 35 25 or +27 (0)11 718 4400. Please note that we require you to fax or email a copy of your South African ID or passport and proof of payment as part of the online or manual application process. This process must be done in order to complete your application. Once we receive all documentation you will receive an official confirmation of your test date. Please note that this can take up to 10 days.
How much will this cost?
We accept payment by direct transfer, Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) or creditcard.
When can I take the exam in Johannesburg?
* All dates prior to these are fully booked.
When can I attend an IELTS workshop in Johannesburg?
29 November 2008When will I get my results?
Results certificates are posted registered mail 13 days after the main test date. We will give you your tracking number at the exam, so that you can trace your parcel at any time by calling the Post Office tracking service on 0860 111 502.
Unfortunately results cannot be given over the phone, by fax or email, and we are only allowed to give ONE certificate to each student. Candidates can however request to pick up their results in person instead of receiving them by post. This request can be made on the date of the exam and we will ask you to add your name to our collection list. When the results are available we will call you; to collect your results you simply need to bring your ID book.
In addition to the certificate given to the candidate, candidates can request on their application forms (Section 24), that up to 5 copies of the results be sent to receiving institutions. Receiving institutions are local academic Institutions (e.g. Universities) and overseas institutions are not registered to view candidate results online. Registered Institutions only receive results online; here is a list of registered institutions. Unfortunately we cannot send to local Institutions or Departments (e.g. Immigration Agents).
