Accreditation UK monitors and improves standards of management, teaching, resources and welfare in organisations teaching English as a foreign language in Britain.
We do this through regular inspections including unannounced spot checks. Each inspection leads to a report on the organisation's services and facilities. On the basis of this report, we make a decision as to whether the organisation should be accredited.
We make sure organisations provide quality provision, especially:
Appropriately qualified teachers
Teaching which meets the Scheme standards
Accommodation, including homestays, which is regularly inspected and meets Scheme standards
24- hour supervision of juniors
Safe premises, with properly-equipped classrooms and areas for relaxation
Brochures and publicity materials which accurately reflect what is provided
Proper emergency procedures, known to staff and students.
See section 2.2 of the Accreditation UK Handbook 2010-11 for what we check during the inspection process.
