CREEES Wins Jefferson Trust Grant

CREEES Wins Jefferson Trust Foundation Grant

Faculty: James Loeffler , Jeffrey Rossman

The Jefferson Trust Foundation at the University of Virginia has awarded the Center for Russian, East European and Eurasian Studies (CREEES) a $42,000 grant to fund course development grants for faculty in the History, Slavic Studies, MESALC and Sociology departments. These grants will enable faculty, including Corcoran Department of History Professors Jim Loeffler and Jeffrey Rossoman, to expand course offerings focusing on regions within CREEES's geographic portfolio that are presently underrepresented in the curriculum (such as East Europe, the Caucasus, and Central Asia). The grant will also provide the funding for two symposia next year: one for students interested in having a career in, or related to, those geographic regions and another focusing on those parts of the world and Russia and their relations with and significance for the U.S.
