Governor Kulongoski appoints Umatilla County District Attorney

Dean Gushwa will fill the vacancy of Christopher Brauer

Salem, Oregon—Governor Kulongoski today announced the appointment of Dean Gushwa as the Umatilla County District Attorney.  Gushwa will fill the vacancy created by DA Christopher Brauer’s resignation due to his election to the Umatilla Circuit Court.  Brauer’s judicial term begins January 2, 2007 and Gushwa’s term as District Attorney will begin at that time.

“Mr. Gushwa will serve the people of Umatilla County with integrity and dedication,” Governor Kulongoski said. “He has a strong reputation in the law enforcement community and the leadership skills needed to guide the District Attorney’s Office through significant changes with the opening of a second courthouse in the county.”

Mr. Gushwa is a Deputy District Attorney in Umatilla County.  He has eight years experience as a prosecutor.
