The Genetics, Genomics, and Bioinformatics Program at the University of Connecticut is multidisciplinary, spanning many departments and colleges. Students may pursue Doctoral Degrees in any of several departments. Students may also pursue one of two new Professional Science Masters within the Department of Molecular and Cell Biology: Applied Genomics or Microbial Systems Analysis.
Areas of research focus include: bioinformatics, chromosome structure and function, comparative genomics and genome evolution, developmental genetics, forensic genetics, genetics of pathogenesis and symbosis, molecular evolution, and the regulation of genome expression.
Research and graduate training is supported by several state-of-the-art facilities: the Center for Applied Genetics and Technology (CAGT), the Biotechnology Bioservices Center, the Center for Regenerative Biology (CRB), the Flow Cytometry and Confocal Microscopy facility, and the Statistics Computing Lab.
