Students testing

Electrical testing validates the process

After completion of the ece444 IC process, students test the devices to prove that they do (or don't) work. If the student followed the recipe correctly the devices will work!

Since the overwhelming majority of ECE 444 students are ECE majors, testing is not be laid out in as much detail as the chemical procedures used to create the devices.

There are basic, safe models and setups for testing, but in almost every case, there are modifications which can, and therefore should, be made to the setups in order to exhibit as much useful information about the particular device as possible.

The object is to apply knowledge of the devices to make these adjustments. For example, plots in which all the "action" happens along one edge are not acceptable.

Perform the following tests in order:

1. MOS Capacitor

2. PMOSFET

3. pn Diode

4. BJT
