Overview

Welcome to City College’s Middle States Re-accreditation web site.  This site is intended to be a resource to keep you informed of our progress in the College’s re-accreditation efforts.  We hope you find it valuable and we welcome your comments for changes and additions.

In February 2006, the College embarked on its self-study for re-accreditation review, which is scheduled for Spring 2008 and administered by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE).
Our Steering Committee, comprising 28 faculty and administrators, and all other CCNY Middle States Committee Members have worked hard drafting the self-study design questions and have spent the 2006-2007 academic year collecting data. A successful self-study and accreditation visit will require the entire College community’s involvement.

Since our last review in 1998, MSCHE has significantly revamped its criteria and process of accreditation. While we will still be asked to evaluate all aspects of the College’s operations, the new guidelines particularly focus on outcomes assessment; measuring the effectiveness of everything we do in terms of administrative, teaching and student performance. While City College has many assessment measurements already in place, we will be implementing new and more effective ways to assess all our academic and administrative programs. These outcomes driven assessments will help the institution better plan and allocate resources and further its mission.  We look forward to assisting you in your own assessment process as part of our college-wide undertaking.
