Our competitive advantage is an emphasis on engineering science and experiential learning that prepares our students to be leaders.

As the end of the academic year approaches, the College took a few moments to honor a number of its leaders and legends--outstanding students, faculty, advisors, and distinguished alumni. At the recent Student and Alumni Award Ceremony, we recognized high achieving students that have made the most of the opportunities available on our campus. At the same event, seven outstanding and very successful alumni—who made the most of their engineering education from Illinois—were also honored with the Alumni Award for Distinguished Service.

We also recognized outstanding advisors and faculty members who constantly strive to communicate new knowledge and increase understanding. In addition to those faculty recognized by the College, three of our colleagues—Lawrence Angrave and Jiawei Han (computer science), and Huseyin Sehitoglu (mechanical science and engineering)—received campus faculty awards for outstanding teaching and mentoring.

Together, these faculty leaders inspire us with their dedication and passion for the engineering profession, and they remind us that excellence requires superior, sustained effort. Congratulations to all of this year’s award recipients. They are part of the legacy of leadership and excellence that is Engineering at Illinois.
