EOCI receives 2011 ACCA recognition

The American Correctional Chaplains' Association (ACCA) established the Judith Coleman Chaplaincy Offender Program Award to give recognition to creative, effective, outcome-based chaplaincy programs in the United States. Eastern Oregon Correctional Institution's (EOCI) faith-based Anger Management Program in General Population (GP) and the Disciplinary Segregation Unit (DSU) was given this award for 2011 as recognition for excellence in Chaplaincy programming.
The purpose of the EOCI Anger Management Program is to give offenders tools to equip them to function in pro-social and problem-solving ways. Inmates apply these tools as part of their ongoing life strategies and everyday interactions with others. The goal is for inmates to use these tools throughout their incarceration and their re-entry back into society.
The EOCI Anger Management Program is supported by the entire EOCI team, but especially by the Administration, Correctional Counselors, Chaplain Lorinda Schwarz, Chaplain Harry Walles, and Religious Services volunteers, Marie Groshong and Ron Gavette.
