Organization
Annual Performance Measures
The Workforce Development develops and delivers effective outcome-based interventions to inmates in
Oregon's prisons. Treatment, education, job skills and work experience are all proven to help inmates transition successfully to the community upon release, reducing the likelihood that they will subsequently return to prison.
Using seven criminogenic risk factors detailed in the
Oregon Accountability Model, the division's staff assesses each inmate during the intake process at
Coffee Creek Correctional Facility and creates an individualized Corrections Plan. After being assigned to a prison, inmates are held accountable for the behavior, education, work, and treatment requirements identified and prioritized in their Corrections Plans. Automated systems track inmates' progress in pursuing their plans as well as their behavior and conduct.
Programs
Workforce Development specifies an inmate's correction plan may include work skills development, parenting, education, training; thinking change; health care; mental health care; alcohol and drug treatment, work experience; and re-entry services such as job placement to support their transition back into the community. Additionally, all inmates are eligible to participate in religious services.
Many of the components of the
Oregon Accountability Model come together in Workforce Development because it is through assessment and then targeted intervention that offenders build a foundation of knowledge, skills and experience essential to productive incarceration, subsequent community supervision and crime-free community life.
