Warner Creek Correctional Facility Receives Frank J. Bertak Award
WCCF Safety Committee
The staff at Warner Creek Correctional Facility (WCCF) in Lakeview were recognized at the Southern Oregon Occupational Safety & Health Conference in Medford on Thursday, October 20, 2011. The WCCF Safety Committee was the recipient of the Frank J. Bertak Award which identifies safety committees, its members, and activities that have made a significant contribution towards a company's overall success.
WCCF was also chosen by a panel of safety professionals to receive the prestigious Randall M. Lundberg Award for an Outstanding Safety & Health Program in the medium-sized company category. This award recognizes companies or facilities that excel in addressing the major elements of an effective occupational safety and health program along with an effective safety committee. The seven elements evaluated were:
- Management Commitment
- Labor & Management Accountability
- Employee Involvement
- Hazard Identification and Control
- Periodic Plan Evaluation
- Worker Training
- Incident / Accident Reports, including root causes and recommendations
Members of the WCCF Safety Committee attended the awards ceremony to receive both of these awards on behalf of all the staff at WCCF. Both the WCCF Safety Committee and all the staff at WCCF share a strong commitment to the health and safety of the facility and strive every day to ensure a safe workplace.
