Department of Forensic Sciences

Welcome to The George Washington University Department of Forensic Sciences in the Columbian College of Arts and Sciences. Since 1968, the department's graduate degree program has offered students an opportunity to learn from scholars and practicing professionals in all aspects of forensic science. Courses are aimed at meeting the needs of professionals in the field to pursue careers in many of the disciplines found in crime laboratories and law-enforcement agencies. And, the program's unique location in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan region provides students with opportunities to interact with federal, state, and local agencies.

The Master of Forensic Sciences is a competitive program designed for scholars and practitioners. It offers three degree concentrations:

The concentrations in Forensic Chemistry, Forensic Toxicology, and Forensic Molecular Biology are offered at the Mount Vernon Campus. All three are accredited by the Forensic Science Education Programs Accreditation Commission (FEPAC).

The Department of Forensic Sciences offers the degree of Master of Science in the field of Crime Scene Investigation, a competitive program designed for scholars and practitioners. This degree is offered at the Mount Vernon Campus. A graduate certificate program is also offered in Forensic Investigation. Both programs require a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.

The Department of Forensic Sciences offers the degree of Master of Science with a concentration in High-Technology Crime Investigation. This degree program is offered off-campus at the Graduate Education Center in Arlington, VA.
