Dr. Frédéric Lemieux
Dr. Lemieux is Professor and Director of Police Science and Security & Safety Leadership Programs. He received his Ph.D. in Criminology from the University of Montreal in 2002. Dr. Lemieux's research has focused on social control and policing. He is currently conducting studies on transnational drug trafficking enforcement and on the function of criminal intelligence as a formal social control tool. Dr. Lemieux has also published various journal articles examining crime control during major disasters, counter-terrorism and intelligence agencies, and police cooperation.

The Graduate School
of Political Management

The Graduate School of Political Management (GSPM) seeks to make politics better by educating students and professionals in the tools, principles and values of participatory democracy, preparing them for careers as ethical and effective advocates and leaders at the international, national and local levels - in a non-partisan environment. We offer three Master’s degrees, five graduate certificates, an undergraduate Semester in Washington program, and we do extensive political education in Latin America, including a Spanish-language Certificate in Strategic Governance.

Congratulations to our 2012 graduates! On Saturday, May 19th at 7:30pm in Lisner Auditorium, the College of Professional Studies (CPS) conducted its annual graduation ceremony. This year, more than 530 CPS students earned a degree, with 297 of them coming from The Graduate School of Political Management (GSPM).

Dr. Roger Whitaker, founding dean of The George Washington University’s College of Professional Studies, was awarded the Julius M. Nolte Award for Extraordinary Leadership by the University Professional and Continuing Education Association (UPCEA) at their 97th annual conference held March 28-30. 2012 in Portland, Oregon.

George Washington University’s GroW Gardens has been providing fresh food to underserved Washingtonians since 2009.

And thanks to a new $10,000 grant from Nature’s Path, an organic food company, the community garden will be enhanced and expanded in order to serve more people.

NATO Chief Visits GW

NATO Supreme Allied Commander, Admiral James G. Stavridis, addressed GW College of Professional Studies students and faculty at the Security and Safety Leadership Seminar on Tuesday, September 13, 2011.

The event, which focused on leadership and interagency cooperation, is part of the Security and Safety Leadership program's occasional seminar series.
