Columbian College could not be where it is today—and could not envision where it will be tomorrow—without the support of donors committed to advancing knowledge and providing opportunity. From annual donations to support the Dean’s Discretionary Fund to major gifts to establish an endowment, gifts of all sizes are a critical component to the success of the College.
To sustain our upward trajectory of excellence, we continue to look to philanthropic investment in scholarship, innovation, and creativity.
Annual gifts build the Dean’s Discretionary Fund, which supports learning and discovery across the disciplines. It provides seed funds for faculty projects, graduate capstone courses, visiting professorships, lecture series, artist-in-residence programs, and academic symposia. And it supports unique intellectual opportunities for our undergraduate students through special seminars, research fellowships, and initiatives that enable scholarly access to the Mount Vernon Estate and Gardens, the Folger Shakespeare Library, and universities around the globe. Support of the University’s Power & Promise Fund ensures that qualified students, regardless of financial resources, can take full advantage of a Columbian College education. The fund helps offset the increasing need for financial assistance and provides the assurance that talented students can complete their studies, even when they can afford them the least. Scholarship support also helps helps reduce the loan burden of our students upon graduation, enabling them to pursue careers that are dictated by personal passions and not by financial need. Gifts to endowment enable the College to attract and retain the best scholars in the world, and provides faculty and their graduate students dependable funding for research and other creative initiatives. This level of support sustains our centers and institutes and increases the number of full-time faculty dedicated to research and excellence in teaching. And, a large endowment elevates our academic reputation as a nexus for learning and discovery. Learn more.
