Behavioral Medicine

CHFM Program Opportunities
The major aim of the Behavioral Medicine Program is to foster educational, clinical, and research projects in the areas of human behavior and mental health in primary care. Programs are developed with an emphasis on undergraduate and graduate education, as well as continuing medical education. Participation in national symposia focused on educating academic physicians is included in the program. ( more)

Bioethics, Law and Medical Professionalism

The mission of the Program in Bioethics, Law and Medical Professionalism (BLMP) is to provide outstanding instruction, scholarship, and professional development activities addressing issues in bioethics, humanities, social sciences, health policy, health law, and medical professionalism for medical students, residents, and practicing physicians, as well as other health professionals. Clinical Trials Program

Our research team has the facilities, recruitment accessibility and faculty experience that is ideal for conducting a wide variety of clinical research. The research division within the department has been in existence since 1986. We are competent in a wide variety of clinical trials and focus our efforts in studies in phase III and IV. Our physicians see upwards of 23,500 patients a year. The demographic and pathophysiologic diversity of our patients give us a database rich with potential subjects. ( more)

Family-Centered Perinatal Care Program

This program was established in January 2000 to provide an enhanced educational experience in perinatal care to Family Medicine residents. This program is directed by George Samraj, M.D. ( more)

Sports Medicine Fellow Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship

The department currently runs an ACGME accredited Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship. The Sports Medicine Fellowship is one-year fellowship based primarily out of the University of Florida Student Health Care Center (SHCC) this link goes to the main student health page. The fellowship will work with athletes from all ages and levels including the University of Florida, Santa Fe College and an Alachua County High School. The goal of the fellowship is to train exceptionally skilled physicians in the areas of primary care athletic medicine and non-operative musculoskeletal medicine. ( more)

Medical Education Program

CHFM plays a major role in medical student teaching and maintains a key leadership role in educational policy within the University of Florida College of Medicine. CHFM faculty have chaired the Curriculum Committee and have had a major impact on the curriculum, including several very successful innovations. ( more)
