Low Carbon Entrepreneurs Website Goes Live! On Friday 13 August, five members of the 2009/2010 Challenge Europe team from Northern Ireland and Ireland held a successful networking event in Dublin to mark the launch of their new business website, www.lowcarbonentrepreneurs.com. Read more ...

Advocates from NI/Ireland plan events to celebrate community! On 15 June, FLASHFEAST was organised as a launch day and celebration of Street Feast , a new annual event developed by advocates from Ireland to celebrate community. The launch was held on the plaza beside City Hall in Dublin and involved participants and passers-by sitting down to share delicious ‘green’ food and chat in the wonderful lunchtime sunshine. Northern Ireland advocates help Belfast get on its bike!
In June, Friends of the Earth joined with the transport charity, Sustrans to organise a conference aimed at influencing Northern Ireland government to increase its spend on cycling schemes and infrastructure within the capital, Belfast. The conference, 'Belfast Cycle City: Visions for the Future', was chaired by Challenge Europe partner, Jim Kitchen (NI Sustainable Development Commission) and was attended by approximately 200 individuals, including town planners, government officials, cycling experts and enthusiasts from across the city. In 2009, five Challenge Europe participants came together to form the Low Carbon Entrepreneurs. The project aimed to help entrepreneurs build businesses which stimulate a green economy and the transition of Ireland to a low carbon society.
