Racer.Pay is a new service, which enables you to receive your MSU Billing Statements over the web, and to submit payments online, using an electronic interface with your bank. There is no additional cost associated with utilizing the Racer.Pay service to pay your student bill.
Once registered for the service, you are notified by e-mail each time a new statement becomes available, and can directly link into Racer.Pay to view your billing information and submit payments. The statement you see on the Racer.Pay system will be in the exact same format as the paper statement you would have received by mail. This system is totally paperless and provides you with the convenience of web-based electronic payments. Your statements are kept online for 6 months for reference, as well as your Racer.Pay payment information.
Who can use Racer.Pay?
The service is available to all active MSU students, as well as their parents and/or others who want to submit payments for student billing accounts. Every student and associated payer signs-up separately, selects his or her own Racer.Pay UserID and Password, and has a separate payment account profile. All account information is confidential for each and every user. No other person will have access to another’s account information, including multiple payers on the same student account.
Why should I use Racer.Pay?

- You are notified of new statements electronically, which will eliminate delays from standard mail delivery!
- No more worry about keeping track of the paper, and your payments can be applied faster!
- Why keep receiving bills if you’re not the one paying for them? You won’t have to worry about sending them on to your parents or other payers every month …or forgetting to…
- You probably already purchase things online, so why not pay your student bills electronically too?
- Racer.Pay is safe and secure, and it’s MSU's preferred method of payment.
- Racer.Pay allows you to reduce paper usage, which is friendlier to the environment.
How do I Sign-Up?
Signing up for
Racer.Pay is simple, but there are 2
very important basic rules:
- Students must sign-up first!
- All other Payers, including parents, must be authorized by the student.
Students sign-up by going to the Racer.Pay web site, and entering their Last Name, Student ID# and date-of-birth. The system matches this information against data from Murray State University and verifies them as an active student. Once verified, the Racer.Pay screens will lead the student through a simple process to select a Racer.Pay UserID and Password, and asks for some basic information such as e-mail address.
During sign-up, each student is also assigned a unique Racer.Pay PIN#, which they can then pass along to parents and other payers.
Parents & Other Payers must have a student’s Racer.Pay PIN# and Student ID# to enable them to sign up for Racer.Pay services. They need to get this information directly from the student for whom they wish to make payments.
The sign-up still takes place on the Racer.Pay web site, but they must enter the Racer.Pay PIN# and MSUCard ID identifying themselves as Payers for the student. The Racer.Pay screen’s lead them through a simple process to select their own Racer.Pay UserID and Password, and asks for some basic information such as e-mail address.

Payment Accounts & Account Validation
Once you sign-up for
Racer.Pay, you can enter information on the payment accounts (up to 5 checking or savings accounts) you plan to use for making payments. This information is stored in your private individual payment account profile.
When you enter information for a new payment account, it will need to go through a validation process to verify the bank information before you can use it. This process takes six business days to complete. Once your account is validated, you will be notified via email, and will be ready to both view statements and make payments online.
Once a payment account has been validated, the following will occur:
- The student, and the payer(s), will have an e-mail generated to notify them that the service is active and they can begin viewing statements online.
- Any user with a valid payment account can submit payments using that account.
- The student, and each payer, will have an e-mail generated to notify them each time a new statement is available, usually on a monthly basis.
- Once your initial electronic payment has been received, mailing of paper statements will be discontinued
While waiting for a new payment account to be verified, please be sure to pay any outstanding paper bills you may have already received by the due date, to avoid being charged late payment penalties.
If you need an official paper statement, you may send a written request by mail to Bursar's Office, Murray Sate University, 200 Sparks Hall, Murray, KY 42071-3312 or by e-mail at bursar.office@murraystate.edu.
Online payments using
Racer.Pay are quick and painless. Simply click on the payment option, verify account, amount and scheduling information on the screen, and submit the payment. You will receive online confirmation that your payment has been submitted, and will be given a tracking number to monitor the progress and status of your payment.
Payments cannot exceed the Amount Due on the most recent statement. This limitation is intended to avoid situations of overpayment, and to assure your protection.
Submit your payments a few days early! Once a payment is submitted, it takes a few days to be posted to your student billing account, so keep this in mind when submitting or scheduling payments, so as to not incur any late payment penalties. Don’t wait until the due date - it may be too late!
Any user with a valid payment account can submit payments using that account. No other users can either view or use another user’s payment account.
Even though your payment account information will remain in our database, payments will only occur when you actively submit them online.
If payments are returned to MSU for Non-Sufficient Funds (NSF), the student account will be charged a fee of $20.00. You may also be assessed an additional NSF fee by your financial institution.
Can International Students enroll, if they don’t have an account with a US financial institution?
International students, who do not have a checking or savings account with a US financial institution, may enroll in Racer.Pay and receive their billing statements electronically, but they cannot register to make payments electronically. Simply select “NONE” when you reach step 5 (Select Payment Option) on the Racer.Pay enrollment screens. Click

Once you enroll, the following will occur:
- You will be notified by e-mail, in approximately 3 working days, that your statement is available.
- An e-mail will be generated each time a new statement is available, usually once per month.
- Paper bills will continue to be sent to you, unless you eventually open an account with a U.S. financial institution and make your first electronic payment.
Security & Confidentiality
Bank account and payment information can only be accessed using your UserID and Password. So be sure to keep your Racer.Pay UserID and Password confidential and in a safe place for reference.
Students and/or other payers can terminate their enrollment in the Racer.Pay service at any time directly, using the online screens. When a student terminates, enrollment is automatically cancelled for all associated payers.
