Types of Gifts

Any gift to the University since January 1, 2004 will be counted in the campaign total.

Annual Giving provides unrestricted operating support for the University or any of its schools or programs. These gifts allow the University the greatest flexibility to direct funding where it is needed most.

Benefiting the University community in perpetuity, endowment gifts are invested to generate a steady stream of income for professorships, scholarships, fellowships, lectureships, book funds, and many other purposes. Donors may also create unrestricted endowments, which produce resources that can be used where the need is greatest.

Planned gifts include life-income opportunities and other financial planning arrangements that can be beneficial to the donor and to the University.

The Corporate and Foundation Relations office seeks to maximize contributions and other support to the University of Virginia from corporations and foundations, by creating, maintaining and enhancing mutually beneficial relationships between these entities and university units.
