Business Instructional Facility
Facility Overview
Prominently located at the corner of Sixth and Gregory, the Business Instructional Facility serves as an exciting new landmark for the ILLINOIS campus. Designed by Cesar Pelli, this impressive learning facility provides 160,000+ square feet of space to accommodate state-of-the-art classrooms, career development and academic counseling centers, student program offices, a recruitment suite, a 300-seat auditorium, and space for students to meet and study.
The forward-looking sustainable design elements and environmentally-friendly features of the building set new standards for future campus architecture. The U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED certification represents an international standard for green buildings. The Business Instructional Facility has been awarded their highest rating of platinum. BIF is the first such building at any public university business school in the world and one of only 15 platinum certified buildings in Illinois.
The instructional facility provides a sense of place to current and future College of Business students and serves as a new home for alumni. Made possible through generous gifts from alumni, corporate partners, and friends of the College, the new instructional facility reflects the stature of the College of Business and symbolizes its commitment to the future.
