Academic Advising

To ensure that every biomedical engineering student is advised by a BME faculty advisor an advising stop flag “EA” will be placed on every student’s SIMS record.  For “EA” stop removal, follow the appropriate process outlined below.

Advisement process for students with 45 or more credits

  • The student will visit the designated faculty advisor during office hours or make an appointment for a mutually convenient time. The faculty advisor will fill out an “BME Course and Advising Form” during the meeting.
  • Once complete, take BME Course and Advising Form to departmental office where the chair, a designee, or a program director will remove the EA stop within 24-48 hours. In general, removal of EA stops will occur once a week.

To identify designated faculty advisor students should check with the department office (ST-401).

Advisement process for students with 0 to 44 credits

  • Students (0 – 44 credits) should make an appointment for advising with the Office of Student Development (212-650-8040, room ST-2M-7).
